Our Story

Mike and Kim Sherwin opened Bella Jule Fine Jewelry, following in the footsteps of his now retired parents, Pat and Nick Sherwin, who served Paso Robles for over 40 years as PAN Jewelers. Mike grew up in the store and gleaned amazing experiences that he now wants to share with the community as owner of their own store.

About Mike:

Mike was born and raised in California. In 1976 Mike’s family moved to Paso Robles. Nick Sherwin (Mike’s Father) opened a rock and clock shop named PAN Opals. Mike graduated from Paso Robles High in 1985. In 1984 he sat at the bench and learned the art of jewelry repair from his Father. While attending Cuesta College in 1985, Mike was contacted by his Uncle, Stan Sherwin of K-Jon’s Fine Jewelry in Atascadero. Mike worked for both PAN Jewelers (then) and K-Jon’s Fine Jewelry from 1985 until 1989. Mike attended 4 classes offered by GIA (Gemological Institute of America located in Santa Monica, CA) which included Jewelry repair classes 1 & 2, Stone setting and Jewelry design. From 1989 until 2004, Mike worked as a Correctional Officer at El Paso de Robles Youth Correctional facility.

During Mikes tenure as a Correctional Officer, he continued doing jewelry repair for PAN Jewelers and even picked up J.C. Penney’s repair work when they opened in Paso Robles in 1998. Mike returned to PAN Jewelers full time in 2004 and was their Master Jeweler for 12 years until their retirement in 2016. Mike even had the trust of Jewelers from as far away as Hollister to San Luis, Cambria to Visalia whom brought repair work to him to fix. In 2012 Mike married his wife Kim and plans were hatched to open their own store and that’s when Bella Jule Designs was founded. In 2016, Mike and Kim took over the location from PAN Jewelers and Bella Jule Fine Jewelry opened. Now with over 36 years of Master Jewelry repair experience, Mike can make the most complex repair the simplest task using the state of art technology, laser welders. With jewelry becoming more and more unique, the old ways of welding with torches to repair jewelry is like living back in the Stone Age.
